glider pilot veteran

G is for GUTS

The Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, Texas at the site of the World War II training field for glider pilots is host for the annual reunion of the few pilots remaining from the original 6,000 military volunteers who flew beyond enemy lines in a light-weight, fabric-covered, motorless aircraft on a one-way mission. The oral histories offered by these veterans are amazing.
