crocus a la georgia o'keeffe
In my backyard I discovered this crocus, the first bloom heralding that spring will indeed arrive (although it may yet be one or two snowstorms away). The macro lens and close cropping reveals an image reminiscent of painter Georgia O'Keeffe, who was an art instructor at West Texas State University when my grandmother attended there in 1918.
Have you ever seen the house where Georgia O'Keeffe boarded when she lived in Canyon? It's just a couple of blocks east of the courthouse. According to the City of Canyon website: "She rented a room at the home of fellow faculty member D.A. Shirley (500 20th Street) and would often take meals at the Hudspeth House (1905 4th Ave.)." Both houses are still satanding; we drove by them yesterday.
