Since their debut in 1958, Alvin and the Chipmunks have become one of the top musical groups with hit songs and movies. They've won 5 Grammys, an American Music Award and 3 Emmy nominations. Today Alvin, Simon and Theodore inhabit the playground at the Ronald McDonald House.

A brigade of burlap-faced scarecrows lines up outside the Lubbock Arboretum. Their job last weekend was to greet visitors to the Pumpkin Trail. Today the scarecrows are smiling in the sunshine; what will the moon of Hallow's Eve turn them into?

I spent the weekend with my old friends Robitussin, Sudafed and Musinex -- hence no new photos taken nor posted. I felt as drab and drear as this fallen leaf -- buffeted by today's gusty, dusty winds.
To fill in the spaces, I've posted rejects from my entries into the annual High and Dry Photography Exhibit hosted by the Texas Tech International Cultural Center featuring the lands and people of the world's semi-arid lands. This year, the letter informs me that one of my entries has been selected from the hundreds received and will be exhibited.
