waiting for ground transport
While at DFW airport waiting for ground transport, I really wanted the Yellow Cab to be at the front of the line--but, alas, the taxi line at Terminal B where the puddle-jumpers from Lubbock and Amarillo land moves very slowly.

The resident on Elmwood Avenue uses the 66th Street side of his fence to support his party candidates. He took offense at removal and vandalism of the signs and posted his own admonishment.

Motorists hurry along Spur 289 toward Wolfforth unaware of the beauty off the roadside by Bob Mills Furniture. A West Texas sunset transforms a weedy, water-filled excavation hole into a shimmering lake.

international harvester
For years International Harvester was the industry leader in agricultural equipment. This truck is delivering the fall harvest of grapes to McPherson Winery.

The eloquently and aptly named "Cat" has the whole farm at Hale Center as her domain. She lives in the barn with running water and mice. Cat was best friends with Big Dog but he disappeared a few months ago. Cat has the better survival skills.

glider pilot veteran

The dedication of the historical marker at the South Plains Army Air Field coincided with the annual reunion of World War II glider pilots, many who trained in Lubbock for their combat missions in Normandy, Southern France, Rhine Crossing, Luzon, Burma.

G is for GUTS

The Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, Texas at the site of the World War II training field for glider pilots is host for the annual reunion of the few pilots remaining from the original 6,000 military volunteers who flew beyond enemy lines in a light-weight, fabric-covered, motorless aircraft on a one-way mission. The oral histories offered by these veterans are amazing.
